The Ottawa Senators have taken a major step toward a new home.

On Monday, National Capital Coalition and Capital Sports Development Inc. announced an agreement to purchase approximately 11 acres of land in LeBreton Flats, near downtown.

Once the site is acquired, the project will move on to zoning, design approval and site clearance before construction begins.
